Robert E. "Bob" Hauck

SERVICES: 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 1, 2014 at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral. VISITATION: 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, February 28, and one hour prior to the service Saturday. FINAL RESTING PLACE: Garland Brook Cemetery. MEMORIALS: Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Robert E. "Bob" Hauck, 87, of Columbus, died at 5:35 p.m. Monday, Feb. 24, 2014, at Silver Oaks Health Campus. Bob served his country in the U.S. Army and spent his life as a farmer raising cows and other farm animals. He was employed at Arvin Industries, Robertson?s Auto Supply and Vernco before going to work at the Columbus Post Office, retiring after 30 years of service. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and enjoyed telling jokes, reading, watching westerns, hunting, gardening and socializing. He attended Mount Olive United Methodist Church. Military graveside honors will be presented by Bartholomew County Veterans Honor Guard. Born in Cortland Feb. 5, 1927, Bob was the son of William Edward Hauck and May Long Hauck. He married Catherine "Katie" Lane June 27, 1953. She preceded him in death Feb. 21, 2012. Survivors include two daughters, Cheri (Ray) Anderson of Columbus, IN, and Donita (Billy) Meredith of Columbus, IN; four grandchildren, Jason Anderson, Christina Sharp, Kevin Anderson, and Daniel Meredith; and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and siblings, Carl Hauck and Mary Louise Peek.
