Robert graduated in 1963 from Max S. Hayes High School in Cleveland, Ohio. From 1963 to 1967 he served on active duty with the United States Marine Corps and continued his service as a reserve until 1969. He served three tours of duty including Japan, Vietnam and the USMC Band. In December 1972, Robert received a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering degree from Cleveland State University. He was a professional engineer in industrial loss prevention for F.M. Global until retiring in 2007 after 34 1/2 years of service. Robert enjoyed playing the piano and keyboard, reading, traveling, studying history, science and math and spending time with family and friends. He was a member of St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church in Waymansville where he belonged to the Adult Fellowship and played in the hand bell choir. Born March 27, 1945, in Cleveland, Mr. Pekar was the son of Robert C. Pekar and Pauline J. Orzechowski Pekar. He married Laura June Rusch Feb. 12, 1972. Survivors include his wife of 41 years; his mother, of Wheelersburg, Ohio; a son, Craig Stephen Pekar, Columbus, IN; a daughter, Raylene Denise (John) Herkamp, Bellevue, Nebraska; a brother, Kenneth R. Pekar, Vermilion, Ohio; a sister, Patricia R. (Wyatt) Bates, Wheelersburg, Ohio; and grandchildren, Isaac, Eli and Violet Herkamp. He was preceded in death by his father.
