Richard L. Clancy, 91, of Columbus, was called home by his Lord Jesus Christ at 11:25 p.m. Tuesday, June 12, 2012, at Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility. Richard lived his early years in Fort Wayne, Indiana, and graduated from Central High School. In 1944, he entered the Navy and was stationed on a submarine in the South Pacific in 1946. After his military service, he was employed by General Electric in Fort Wayne as a tool maker before coming to Columbus in 1964 to work at Reliance. He helped open a new Reliance plant in Asheville, NC, in 1979. After retirement in 1986 returned to Columbus where he was a member of Golden K Kiwanis Club and Grace Lutheran Church. Richard enjoyed woodworking. Born in Fort Wayne July 16, 1920, Richard was the son of George and Elsie Broaking Clancy. He married Clara Kuehnert Nov. 22, 1945. She preceded him in death Nov. 18, 2006. Survivors include his favorite son and daughter-in-law, Michael (Diane) Clancy of Columbus, IN; daughters, Karyl Tormoehlen and Candace Clancy, both of Columbus, IN, and Pamela (Larry) Barker of Freetown, IN; grandchildren, Michael (Lana) Clancy Jr., Christopher (Carolyn) Clancy, James Clancy, Holly (Shawn) Brotzman and Brian Barker; eight great-grandchildren; and a sister, Dorothy Collins of Fremont, IN. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and a grandson, Jon Tormoehlen.
