Larry L. Sweet Sr. January 26, 1951 - April 23, 2011 Larry L. Sweet Sr., 60, of Forsythia Drive, died at 3:25 a.m. Saturday, April 23, 2011 at his home with his family by his side. He was born in Shelbyville January 26, 1951, the son of John H. and Wilma Olene Spears Sweet. He married Inita L. Rink on March 25, 1972. She survives. Larry loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He enjoyed fishing, camping, gambling and loved travelling. Larry was a U.S. Marine, fighting in Vietnam. After the Marine Corp., he reenlisted into the U.S. Army. While in the Army, Larry served as an Honor Guard, during which time he had the privilege to escort President Jimmy Carter to church once. He is survived by sons, Larry L. (Robin) Sweet Jr. and Jeremy (Linsey) Sweet, both of Columbus; a daughter, Krystie (Dewayne) Petro of Scipio; grandchildren, Rebecca, Kenneth, Corey and Ricky Petro, Jacob, Destiny and Elijah Sweet and Brayton Fields; a great-grandson, Dillon Petro; a brother, John F. (Judy) Sweet of Elizabethtown; sisters, Sheldia (Charles) Austerman of Elizabethtown; Kathy Johnson of Arizona and Cindy Sweet of Columbus. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Nancy Waterman. Funeral Information FUNERAL SERVICES: Will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with Rev. Ira Holt officiating. VISITATION: Will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 10 a.m. until service time Wednesday at the funeral home. BURIAL: Will be at Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Madison.
