Ardeth "Ardie" Conlin of Laurel Drive passed away in her sleep on the morning of Sunday, April 24, 2011.
She was born June 24, 1934 to Gladys Johnson Carey and Thomas Carey in Muskegon, Michigan. She met Ed Conlin on a blind date with a friend. They were married on May 21, 1955 in Muskegon, subsequently moving to Columbus.
Mrs. Conlin was employed as an executive secretary at Strand and Associates (formerly Sieco Inc.) for forty years. Prior to that, she was employed by Union Starch.
She was very involved with the Bartholomew County Extension Homemakers Council serving as an officer and coordinator of several special events. She was a charter member of FGC club, and recently celebrated 50 years with the group, she was currently serving as president. She also enjoyed being a Red Hat Club member. She had previously done volunteer work at the Visitor Center.
She was a long time and very active member of Petersville United Methodist church serving on the finance committee and was currently co-financial secretary. She had served as chairperson of the annual Turkey Supper and was almost always found behind the scenes working in the carry out section.
She very much enjoyed staying busy with family, friends, church, gardening and providing catering services at local auctions with long time friend Linda Jackson.
She was part of an extrodinary group of friends know as "The Gang". The six couples have been best friends for over forty years celebrating vacations, birthdays, holidays and many other events together with much laughter and many dear memories.
Survivors include, her husband, Ed; daughter Kathi Hall (Jim) of Carmel; sons Mark (Julia) of Bloomington, Greg of Herndon, VA, Steve (Julie) of Coatesville, Chris (Stacey) of Ellettsville; sister Edith Branyan of Muskegon, MI.; sister-in-law Janet Powell of Cincinnati and brother-in-law Tom Conlin of Indianapolis. Her grandchildren are Emily and Matthew Hall, Kelly Conlin, Jensen Conlin, Noah and Liam Conlin, Sara Renneisen, Jaclyn Renneisen-Cotton, and Elizabeth Renneisen. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Marlon Carey.
Funeral Information
CALLING: Wednesday from 4:00-8:00 at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home, 3855 25th Street.
FUNERAL: Thursday morning, April 28, at 11:00 at Petersville United Methodist Church, 2781 N 500 East with Rev. Jerald Turner officiating.
Prior to the service friends may visit with the family at the church beginning at 10:00 am.
BURIAL: Flatrock Baptist Cemetery.
