Grace B. Penrose November 25, 1924 - April 15, 2011 Grace B. Penrose, 86, of Midway Street, died at 1:08 a.m. Friday, April 15, 2011, at Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility. Mrs. Penrose was retired from Columbus East High School where she was a custodian. She was a happy and giving person and always put others before herself. She loved her cats and gave her family a lifetime of humor. Born in Merrillville, Ky., Nov. 25, 1924, Mrs. Penrose was the daughter of Floyd and Vera Cox Pittman. She married Gerald Penrose who preceded her in death in 1977. Survivors include a niece, Joyce Brown of Columbus; great-nieces, Deborah Pittman, Sue Holley, Paula Brown and Stacey Heath, all of Columbus; a great-nephew, Tony Brown of Iowa; a great-great-niece, Tina (Larry) Williams, and many other great-great-nieces and nephews; and a brother, Gene Pittman. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a brother, Elbert Pittman; great-nephews, Rudy and David Brown; and a great-great-niece, Elizabeth Williams. Funeral Information FUNERAL: 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 19, at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home, with the Rev. Wes Jones officiating. CALLING: 11 a.m. until service time. BURIAL: Garland Brook Cemetery.
