James Robert Garrity, 29, of Cleveland Street, died at 1:25 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2011, at Columbus Regional Hospital Emergency Room.
Mr. Garrity was a veteran of the Army National Guard. He loved playing video games and working on stereo systems and enjoyed caring for his daughter every day.
He also enjoyed his truck, playing pool and cards and watching football, especially the Indianapolis Colts.
Born in Columbus March 21, 1981, Mr. Garrity was the son of James W.L. Coryell and Carolyn Garrity.
He is survived by his father, of Columbus; his fiance, Janie Hadley of Columbus; a daughter, Zara Garrity of Columbus; sisters, Emily Garrity of Columbus and Stacy Contrell of Butlerville; his father-in-law, Jeffrey Hadley of Hope; a grandfather, Wallace Donthan of Seymour; stepbrothers, David (Mary) Leonard of Elizabethtown and Joshua Blair of Kentucky; stepsisters, Alishia Blair of Seymour, Autumn Purvis of Columbus and Rose (Mark) Nickerson of Columbus; his stepfather, Everett Caudill of Butlerville; his stepmother, Kelley Coryell of Columbus; and numerous other friends and loved ones.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Carolyn Garrity, on March 29, 2010.
Funeral Information
FUNERAL: Monday, February 7, at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor John Ruland officiating.
VISITATION: Sunday from 2:00-6:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the service Monday.
BURIAL: Donaldson Cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by Bartholomew County Veterans Color Guard.
