Frances Doris Chavis, 75, of Midway Street, died at 10:26 a.m. Friday, Aug. 6, 2010 at Columbus Health & Rehabilitation Center.
Frances was employed at the Fashion Shop. She enjoyed bowling, playing bingo and dancing. Her greatest joy was being around people and her grandchildren.
Born Aug. 22, 1934 in Glasgow, Ky., she was the daughter of Jesse S. Mansfield and Jennie L. Morgan. She married Lewis B. Chavis on Sept. 1, 1950.
Survivors include sons, Terry Chavis, of Columbus, Tony (Cathi) Chavis, of Columbus; daughter, Debra (Bob) Lee, of Greenville, S.C.; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.
Her parents; husband; a daughter, Cindy Taylor; two brothers; and two sisters preceded her in death.
Funeral Information
FUNERAL: 1 p.m. Tuesday at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home.
VISITATION: 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home and noon until service time Tuesday.
BURIAL: Garland Brook Cemetery.
