Clifford A. Shinolt, 94, of Elizabethtown, died at 10:58 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 3, 2010, at Columbus Regional Hospital.
An Army Air Corps veteran, Mr. Shinolt was a lifelong member of the V.F.W. and a past member of Sandcreek Conservation Club. He retired in 1975 after 30 years with Cummins Engine Company.
He enjoyed NASCAR, hunting, fishing and trapping and was also a Reds baseball and IU basketball fan.
Born in Jennings County Nov. 14, 1915, Mr. Shinolt was the son of Elmer and Lucy Robinson Shinolt. He married Blanche Elizabeth Crubaugh Aug. 16, 1941. She preceded him in death.
Survivors include sons, Ivan W. Shinolt of Elizabethtown and Clifford Shag Shinolt of Scipio; a daughter, Sandra K. Weintraut of Elizabethtown; grandchildren, Gary (Sonja) Bryant of Columbus and Sonja (Carlos) Moore of New Castle; great-grandchildren, Dillon Moore and Felisha Moore; and stepgreat-grandchildren, Karen Taylor and Nichole Taylor
He was preceded in death by a brother, Lewis Shinolt; and sisters, Mildred Miller, Margaret Spencer and Bertie Abbott.
Funeral Information
FUNERAL: 1 p.m. Friday at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home.
CALLING: 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday and from noon until service time Friday.
BURIAL: Garland Brook Cemetery. Military graveside rites will be conducted by Bartholomew County Veterans Color Guard.
