Russell L. Bowers, 80, of Marilyn Street died at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 15, 2009, at Columbus Health & Rehabilitation Center.
Mr. Bowers was a member of St. Peters Lutheran Church. He enjoyed fishing and camping at Lake Monroe and working in his yard.
Family nights on Fridays were very important to him.
Born in Columbus July 9, 1929, Mr. Bowers was the son of Glen R. and Mary Brockleyhurst Bowers. He married Betty F. Cookson Oct. 26, 1946.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Jerry W. (Cathy) Bowers of Elizabethtown; daughters, Glenda K. (Jack) Tays of Columbus, Kathy L. (Steve) Summers of Fort Wayne and Tammy J. (Jeff) Eggleston of Columbus; grandchildren, Shelley (Bryant) Bultman, Kevin Tays, Heather and Chelsey Anderson and Steve (Angie) Bowers; and great-grandchildren, Mackenzie Bowers, Adrienne Anderson, Kealy Baugher, Lindsey Thompson, Karson Tays, Shelby Tays, Max Bultman, Emy Tays and Avery Tays.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter and son-in-law, Ginger L. and Chuck Walton; and three brothers.
Funeral Information
FUNERAL: 10 a.m. Saturday at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with the Rev. Mark Teike officiating.
CALLING: 4 to 7 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. until service time Saturday.
BURIAL: Garland Brook Cemetery.
