Gerald Gene Powers, 69, of Beechtree Drive died Tuesday, July 17, 2007.
Mr. Powers was Parts Pricing Manager at Cummins Inc. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, American Legion Post No. 24, FOE Aerie No. 927, Moose Lodge No. 398, Scottish Rite, Murat Shrine, Order of the Eastern Star, Lois Chapter No. 147, and Greensburg Lodge No. 36, F. & A.M.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling and spending time with family and friends and also devoted time to the Bartholomew County Veterans Color Guard, serving as Commander of the Color Guard for several years.
Born in Forest Hill April 21, 1938, Mr. Powers was the son of Charles and Mary Olive Powers. He married Margaret Lauderdale July 27, 1981.
Survivors include his wife; daughters, Terri M. Powers of Versailles, Jean (Don) Duerstock of Greensburg, Peggy (Patrick) Crawford of Jacksonville, Fla., and Rebecca (Wendell) Cole of Versailles; grandchildren, Cameron Powers, Carson Powers, Kristina Duerstock, Jeffrey Duerstock, Amanda (Lee) Scheel, Aimee (Roger) Cromer, Michael Cole and Myranda Cole; great-grandchildren, Brandon and Brooklyn Cromer; brothers, Harold (Dorothy) Powers of Wisconsin, Ronald (Gwen) Powers of California and Jack (Brenda) Powers of Columbus; and sisters, Mary Louise Jayne of Southport, Maude Michael of Westport, Jessie Bowers of West Virginia and Doris (Charles) Parson of Columbus.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, John, Charles A., Jimmie and David Powers; and a sister, Lena Lenora Kirtman.
Funeral Information
VISITATION: Calling will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 19 at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home and from 9 a.m. until service time Friday at the church.
FUNERAL: The funeral will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday, July 20, 2007, at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Brian Campbell officiating.
