Victor M. Hendershot, 77, of Washington Street died at 12:15 p.m. Tuesday, March 21, 2006, at Four Seasons Health Care Center.
Mr. Hendershot graduated from Cortland High School where he played basketball. He owned and operated Vics Marathon Service Station until 1960 and retired from DuBois Chemical Co. in 1986.
An avid golfer, he was a member of St. Peters Lutheran Church, Bartholomew County Historical Society, Elks Lodge No. 521, Bartholomew County Senior Center and Harrison Lake Country Club.
Born in Jackson County Dec. 10, 1928, Mr. Hendershot was the son of Wayne and Ethylene Davis Hendershot. He married Wilma Fae Robertson on November 15 1947, in Columbus. She preceded him in death in August 1994. He married Vera Force Oct. 14, 1995. She survives.
Other survivors include a son, Robert D. (Cindy) Hendershot of Columbus; a daughter, Patricia Anne Hendershot of Littleton, Colo.; stepsons, Harold F. (Debbie) Force and David L. (Cindy) Force, all of Columbus; grandchildren, Kathryn Lynn (Blake) Parkins of Noblesville, Jonathon Mink of Zionsville, Catherine (Chris) Force Koczaja of Chillicothe, Ill., Clayton Donald Force of Chicago, Ill., Karen Elizabeth Force of North Manchester and Elizabeth Anna and Margaret Grace Force, both of Columbus; and great-grandchildren, Alexandra Grace Parkins of Noblesville and Abigail Marie Koczaja of Chillicothe, Ill.
He was preceded in death by his first wife; brothers, Vernice and Leland Hendershot; and sisters, Marilyn Teipen and Velta Warren.

FUNERAL: Saturday March 25, 2006 at 10:30 a.m. at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with the Pastor Mark Teike officiating.
VISITATION: : from 4 to 8p.m. Friday March 24, 2006
