Emily Wyman Wigh
May 18, 1914 - January 23, 2006
Emily Wyman Wigh, 91, of Columbus died of natural causes at 3:25 a.m. Monday, Jan. 23, 2006, at her Four Seasons Retirement Center home in Columbus. She was born to John Wesley Wyman and Alma Wharry Wyman in Derby, Vt., on May 18, 1914. Mrs. Wigh graduated from high school in Newport, her family home. She was a 1937 graduate of Boston's Brigham and Women's Hospital where she earned a degree in nursing. While in Boston, she met and married Russell E. Wigh, M.D., a graduate of Harvard Medical School, on June 11, 1939. She became a homemaker after the birth of her first child in 1942.
A quiet, patient, devoted parent and wife, Emily easily won the friendship of all who knew her. She proudly watched her seven grandchildren grow and prosper, and smiled often over her four great-grandchildren. Her greatest joy in life was to nurture and provide for the needs of her husband, children, and grandchildren.
Emily's great passions were camellia gardening, bridge, and traveling all over the world.
At her mother's passing, Emily placed a bloom of lilacs with Alma on her journey, so now her loving family places camellia blossoms with Emily.
She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Russell Ernest Wigh of Columbus; two sons and daughters-in-law, Russell John and Deanne Dobbs Wigh of Savannah, Ga., and Richard Joseph and Barbara Bonner Wigh of Columbus; and a daughter, Susan Wigh Faidley, of Signal Mountain,Tenn.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Robert and Wesley Wyman.

Reaching out to family of Dr. Russell Wigh and Emily Wigh re: genealogy. Emily was my 2nd cousin once removed and the two of them appear in two printed family trees that were published circa 1950. Gary Milks milksge at sympatico.ca
