Teddy N. Merrick

Teddy N. Merrick, 71, of South Hughes Street, died at 8:23 p.m. March 11, 2019, at I.U. Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. Teddy was born November 7, 1947, in Brown County, the son of Walter G. and Rosella Laird Merrick.  He married Debbie Imlay July 24, 1971. He was a 1967 graduate of Hauser High School and had enjoyed his career working as a health care administrator. He was a member of East Columbus Christian Church and also attended Lighthouse Full Gospel Tabernacle. Teddy loved I.U. basketball, golf, travelling, and was very dedicated to his family and loved them very much. The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 16, 2019, at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with Ron Bridgewater and Pastor Mark Douglas officiating. Calling will be 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and one hour prior to the service.  Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery. Memorials may be made to East Columbus Christian Church or Lighthouse Full Gospel Tabernacle in memory of Teddy.   Survivors include his wife, Debbie; daughter, Tracy Howard of Columbus; family friend, Eddie Boswell of Greencastle; brother, Leland Merrick and sisters, Roselyn Faith McClintic and Carol Bilbrey, all of Columbus; a grandchild, Devin Purtlebaugh; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and five brothers and four sisters.
