Rex A. Daniel
October 10, 1948 ~ January 31, 2018
Rex passed peacefully Wednesday morning from complications of liver and kidney disease. He received a life saving liver transplant in 2001 and again in 2002, giving him the gifts of resuming a normal life, returning to the workforce, and seeing three additional grandchildren born into the family. Rex was born October 10, 1948 in Indianapolis, to Ail and Lucille Daniel. He graduated from Arsenal Tech High School in 1966 and married his wife of 50 years in January 1968. He joined the United States Air Force in 1968 and served 4 years during the Vietnam era. In 1974 the Xerox Corporation relocated the family to Columbus, IN, where he completed a total of 37 years with the company. Rex retired in 2009 and became a full time chauffeur to his five grandchildren. He loved fishing and hunting, but his favorite activity was watching his grandchildren play sports. As his health declined over the years, Rex’s faith never wavered. His strong commitment to the Lord began early in life and he truly believed that God would walk with him through this journey whether through a healing touch or a heavenly touch; Heaven won. Rex was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene where he served on many committees and was a Sunday School teacher. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, January 31, 2018 at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with Pastor Brian Rogers officiating. Calling will be from 1 pm – 4 pm Sunday at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service on Monday. Burial will be at Flat Rock Baptist Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Indiana Organ Procurement Organization (IOPO) or the First Church of the Nazarene through the funeral home. Rex is survived by his wife Nina, daughters Shelly Abbott (Vince), Amanda Murphy, grandchildren Justin Abbott, Logan Abbott, Daniel Murphy, Heidi Murphy, and Joel Murphy, sisters Shirley Parks and Carolyn Hobbs, and brothers Ben Daniel and Jeff Daniel.

So saddened to hear of your loss. You all are in our thoughts and prayers.
I remember many hours spent at the Daniels house! And many stories of Rex and Dad (Kent) both at work and outside of work. They both shared the love of fishing and playing jokes. He will definitely be missed!
