Norma Jean Truex

Norma Jean Truex, 92, of Columbus, passed away on December 20, 2018, at Columbus Regional Hospital. Norma was born August 10, 1926, in Jefferson County, the daughter of Joseph and Bessie Jines Brown. She married Harley C. Truex, who preceded her in death. Norma was a homemaker throughout her life, but after her husband’s passing, she went to work for Sap’s Bakery, retiring after 22 years of service. In her free time, Norma loved to decorate her house according to what season it was, along with every major holiday. She also loved working with her flowers in her garden. Norma also enjoyed reading and jigsaw puzzles. The funeral will be at 12:00 p.m. Wednesday December 26, 2018 at the Jewell – Rittman Family Funeral Home with the Rev. Nathan Shockley officiating. Calling will be from 10 a.m. until time of services Wednesday. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery. Survivors include children, Marvin Truex and Barbara A. (William) Griffiths, both of Columbus; grandchildren, Dustin Foster and Travis (Kendra) Pearson; and great-grandchildren, Shawn Foster, Tyler Pearson, Jessalenea Cornett, Joseph Brand, and Jesse Cornett. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Gloria Kay Truex; her parents, her husband, one brother, and six sisters.
