FUNERAL SERVICE: 1:00 p.m. Friday December 21, 2018 at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home OFFICIATING CLERGY: Pastor Ed Boston FINAL RESTING PLACE: Garland Brook Cemetery VISITATION: 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home Rita R. Tidwell, 51, of North Lincoln Village Drive, died at 10:28 a.m. December 18, 2018, at I.U. Health Methodist. Rita was born July 27, 1967, in Niles, Michigan, the daughter of Roland and Frances Carver Deavers. She married Larry D. Tidwell December 31, 1998. She was a 1985 graduate of Columbus North High School and a member of Come As You Are Ministries. Rita was a good mother and loved all kids. The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, December 21, 2018, at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with Pastor Ed Boston officiating. Calling will be 11 a.m. until time of service Friday. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Come As You Are Ministires. Survivors include her husband, Larry; sons, Jake (Danielle Hamilton) Newsom, Kody (Denisha) Newsom, James (Tiffany) Biggs and Scott Newsom, all of Columbus; brothers, Gordon (Sally) Biggs of North Carolina, Frank (Elaine) Biggs of Illinois, and Tom (Sherrie) Biggs of Hayden, Indiana, and sisters, Marie (Wayne) Rufer of Nevada, Marsha (Billy) Jones of Florida, Marcie (Bob) Fegan of Texas and Mary Ann Sellers of Kansas; grandchildren, Remy Newsom, Kayden Newsom, Rochelle Newsom, Emily Biggs and Jack Biggs; and several nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.

  1. With tears of endearment, I write. My life long friend won’t be by our side. I knew Rita from the age of sixteen. Watching her grow into a wonderful women and mother, and wife.
