Mattie B. Davis-Gates, age 93, of Columbus passed away at 11:36 p.m. Wednesday November 14, 2018 at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility. Mattie was born March 17, 1925 in Lebanon, Tennessee to the late Hershel and Betty (Ward) Pickett. She worked as a private duty nurse and enjoyed attending church. She loved her children and grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday November 21, 2018 at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with Virgil Clotfelter officiating. Following the service, she will be laid to rest in the Flat Rock Baptist Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana. Mattie is survived by her daughter, Betty (Ron) Griffin of Columbus; son Roger (Leann) Davis of Nineveh; grandchildren, Rhonda Davis, Lisa (Doug) Meyer, Robert (Carrie) Spires, George (Lisa) Spires, Sussette Mitchell and Kristal (Doug) Eggers; fifteen great grandchildren and 12 great-great grandchildren. I remember Mattie’s three other daughters that were adopted out back in the late 50’s early 60’s. I would sure like to know what happened to those three pretty Lil girls.
