Clifford R. Gilpin

Clifford R. Gilpin, 87, of Laurel Drive, died at 1:22 p.m. September 17, 2018, at Miller's Merry Manor. Clifford was born September 30, 1930, in Casey County, Kentucky, the son of Albert and Kate Mason Gilpin. He married Vivian "Fran" Gilpin November 25, 1954, and she preceded him in death August 3, 2004. Clifford was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and had worked in sales all of his life. He was a 50 year member of the Moose Lodge, and a member of both the American Legion and Eagle’s Lodge. Clifford was a loyal member of the Democratic Party. He was an avid Indianapolis Colts and Cincinnati Reds fan, and enjoyed playing cards, especially Texas Hold’em. He also spent time going to the race track and loved his dog, Lacey. The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, September 21, 2018, at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with Jim Miller officiating. Calling will be 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home and two hours prior to the service. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana or the donor's choice of charity. Survivors include his children, Terry ( Debbee Bolenbaugh) Gilpin, of Columbus, Mary (Ron Epping) Fisher of West Bend, Wisconsin, Norma Corum of Columbus, Pamela (Thomas) McClelland of Madison, James Lee Gilpin of Shelbyville, Kevin (Kim Wolfe) Gilpin of Columbus and Timothy P. (Kelli Hill) Gilpin of Columbus; grandchildren, Daniel Cunningham, Allison Aziz, Katy Fisher, Josh Miller, Chris and Nick Corum, T.J. and Meghan McClelland, Tyce and Cody Gilpin, and Devin and Keaton Gilpin; eight great-grandchildren; a niece, Kelly Calvert; a friend, Greg “Bronzie” Brown; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Fran; son-in-law, Lee Fisher; companion, Bernice; and five brothers and three sisters.
