Larry FieldsMEMORIAL CONTRIBUTIONS: Danial W. Holmes Memorial Fund through the funeral home  Danial W. Holmes, age 69, of Columbus, passed away Friday August 31, 2018 at his home. He was born September 11, 1948 in Northampton County, Virginia. Danial served his country in the Marines as a Green Beret. He was a member of the Columbus General Baptist Church. Danial enjoyed watching tennis, football, handball and chess. He loved being around friends and family, especially playing with his grandchildren. He was a former golden gloves boxer and trained for the Olympics. Danial is survived by his wife, Debra McCauley Holmes of Columbus; his mother, Mary E. Edwards Holmes of Exmore, Virginia; his daughters, Barbara (Mark) Crawford Mucker of New Albany, Indiana, Shartanya Cook of Columbus and Sussette (Victor) Horne of Indianapolis; his sons, Shawn McCauley and Jamie McCawley both of Columbus. He is also survived by his sisters, Lizzie Richardson, Carla Ann Wilson and Mary (Robert) Stanley Bowwright all of Exmore, Virginia and several grandchildren and great grandchildren. Danial was preceded in death by his father, Danial Holmes, Sr. and a brother, David Holmes.
