Carolyn Sue Douglas, 77, of Riverside Court died Wednesday August 8, 2018, at St. Francis Hospital. She was born July 24, 1941, in Columbus, the daughter of Marshall W. and Rosie E. Elkins Ross. She married Paul Douglas and he preceded her in death in1964. Carolyn retired in 2001 after 30 years of service with Cummins Engine Co. She was a member of Columbus Baptist Church and was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, August 13, 2018, at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with Pastor Charles Kennedy officiating. Visitation will be 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday and one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery. Memorial donations can be made to Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation in Carolyn’s memory. She is survived by her sons, David A. Douglas of Columbus and Paul Thomas Douglas of West Virginia; daughters, Deana R. (Ed) Stater and Tonya L. Douglas, both of Columbus and Cherie (Ronnie) Betz of Terre Haute; sisters, Sandra K. Ross and Betty L. Ross, both of Columbus; 15 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Paul; a daughter, Kimberly Smith; and brothers, John Ross, Mac Ross, Joseph Ross and Robert Ross.

  1. Carolyn was such a kind, caring and wonderful friend. Her heart was huge she was so giving. I loved Carolyn so very much, she will be missed.

  2. I will remember the time when she prayed over me and put her hand on me. The true power and love of God showed through. I got stronger and I stabilized. The power of her faith and love for God showed through that day as I got off of the oxygen and heart monitor. She was a fun loving person and was a great cook. Getting to wrap all the Christmas presents with her was a big but enjoyable task. Thanks for the memories and the songs you sang you had a unique voice and I will always remember the song poorbabes in the woods.

  3. I have wonderful memories with her. She had a laugh like no other. Her cooking was awesome and I had so much fun with this family growing up. She will be greatly missed. Prayers to all.

Carolyn is gonna be sadly missed.She was a special person with a big heart.Pastor Terry,(that’s what she said she would always call him) and I will keep all our precious memories of her from Messiah.She and I had some (heart to heart) talks and grew very close.I will remember the good times.Love and prayers for the family.
