Susan Joy Philyaw, 46, of Columbus, passed away July 13, 2018 at Our Hospice Inpatient Facility. Susan was born May 24, 1972 in Columbus to the late Lester Eugene Fox and Marjory McPeek Fox, who survives. She married Barry Dale Philyaw, June 20, 1992. He preceded her in death On October 20, 2005. Susan worked at Cummins Engine Company at the Walesboro plant for 21 years. She enjoyed music, movies, softball, swimming, traveling and spending time with family, neighbors, and friends. She loved and enjoyed her cats and dogs. Her greatest joys were her husband and daughter, Peyton Layne. The funeral service will be 1p.m. Thursday, July 19, 2018 at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with Virgil Clotfelter officiating. Visitation will be 4p.m. to 8p.m. Wednesday, July 18, 2018 at the funeral home. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery. Susan is survived by her mother Marge McPeek Fox of Columbus, daughter; Peyton Layne Philyaw of Columbus; brother, Zachary (Stephen Rueli) Fox of Palm Springs, CA; sister, Karen (David Henson) Fox-Thompson of Columbus; nieces, Amy (Max) Goodwin of Seymour, Amanda Harmeson of Columbus; several aunts, uncles, cousins, brother’s and sister’s in law. She was preceded in death by her father; husband; brother-in-law, Neil Thompson; grandparents, Charles (Tine) and Kathryn (Dot) McPeek, Paul and Mary Perkins, Ralph Fox and Frank Swengel; great-grandparents, Artie and Amanda Fox. Memorials may be made to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana or the Bartholomew County Humane Society.
