Charles "Chuck" Harper Jr., 90, of Columbus, IN, died July 03, 2018, at Four Seasons Health Center.  Chuck was born January 22, 1928 in Cincinnati, Ohio to the late Charles Harper, Sr. and Callie Peyton Harper.  He married Mary Lou Harper, who survives. Chuck served his country in the United States Air Force, obtaining the rank of Master Sergeant before retiring in 1971 after 25 years of service.  He also retired from Cummins Engine Co. after many years.    The funeral service will be held at 1p.m. Tuesday, July 10, 2018 at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with Pastor Virgil Clotfelter officiating. Calling will be from 11a.m. until time of service Tuesday at the funeral home.   Burial will be in Garland Brook Cemetery.  Military honors will be provided by the Bartholomew County Veteran's Honor Guard.  Chuck is survived by his wife Mary Lou Harper of Columbus; brothers, Harold (Deborah) Harper of Cincinnati, Fred (Elmira) Harper of Cincinnati; sisters Margaret Richardson of Cincinnati and Bertha Harper of Virginia. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, James (Fumiko) Harper, John (Laverne) Harper, Pete (Trainy) Peyton, Samuel Harper, and Dorothy Harper.

  2. MSG Harper and I were stationed at Ellsworth AFB SD in the early to mid- 1960’s! Great man! Great friend! Whenever I needed help or advice I went to Sgt Harper! So sorry to hear of his passing!
