Huston Rooks, 77, of Columbus, passed away Sunday May 27, 2018 at his home.  He was born September 1, 1940 in Adair County Kentucky to the late Joe Sam Rooks and Theria Burton Rooks. Huston was a great storyteller and enjoyed playing poker. He loved his family, especially his grand children and great grand children. Huston married Sharon I. Carman August 21, 1962 and she survives.  He is also survived by his son, Chet L. Rooks of Columbus; daughters, Teresa L. Beavers of Columbus, Debbie K (Patrick) Fleetwood of Brandon, Florida and Sandy F. (Mark) Boswell of Elizabethtown; brothers, Donald Rooks of Scipio, Johnny Rooks of Ketner, Kentucky and Gary (Niky) Rooks of Columbia, Kentucky; sisters, Melvie Arnett, Mitzi (Billy) Burton and Betty Burton, all of Columbia, Kentucky;  grandchildren, Amanda Littiken,  Abbi Rooks, Crystal Foist, Samantha Beavers, Belinda Lucas, Josh Irvin, Jason Barwick and Justin Barwick and 10 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday May 30, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. in Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with the Rev. Glenn Poynter officiating. Following the service, he will be laid to rest in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Shelby County. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Huston Rooks Memorial Fund to help with expenses.   2. My thoughts and prayers go out to the Beaver family. I didn’t know Huston but by watching his tribute video I can tell he was a good man who was deeply loved and will be deeply missed. You all were very blessed to have this great man in your life. He is flying high with the angels now and you will all be together again some day. He’s in good hands up there.
