Visitation:  4 p.m. - 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 10, 2018Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral HomeFuneral Service:  10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 11, 2018Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral HomeInterment: Garland Brook CemeteryMemorial Donations:  Our Hospice of South Central Indiana, American Heart Association or Brain Injury Support Group of Bartholomew County Cheryl Enid Arford, 69, of Columbus passed away unexpectedly on April 5, 2018 at her home.  Cheryl was born May 18, 1948, in Columbus, the daughter of Durward and Velma Scofield Hearne.  She married Michael Lewis Arford on February 16, 1991, and he preceded her in death on September 1, 2017.  She graduated from Ivy Tech Community College, where she obtained her degree in Licensed Practical Nursing.  After pursuing her LPN, she graduated from Marian University with an Associate’s Degree in Nursing.  Cheryl went on to obtain both her Bachelor and Master’s degrees in Healthcare Administration from the University of St. Francis.  Cheryl was a Certified Case Manager, Certified Legal Nurse Consultant and Six Sigma Black Belt.  She spent the majority of her career in healthcare management and consulting, traveling the United States.  She was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church, served many years as a Girl Scout Leader and led the Brain Injury Support Group of Bartholomew County.  Cheryl was one of the first graduates of Leadership Bartholomew County.  Cheryl enjoyed traveling and reading, but her greatest joy in life was her family.  She loved to spend time with her two grandsons, Alex and Zach, engaging in numerous trips and adventures. The Nursing Honor Guard will conduct a short ceremony in Cheryl’s honor beginning at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 11, 2018, at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home.  Funeral services will immediately follow with Rev. Michael Hogg officiating. Calling will be 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service.  Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery. Survivors include her daughters, Gisele (Troy) Coffman of Columbus and Nicole (Brian) Sturgill of Seymour; brothers, Dennis (Jan) Hearne of Shelbyville, Brett (Kim) Hearne of Columbus and Brian (Jeannie) Hearne of Bloomington; grandsons, Alexander and Zachary Sturgill and Christopher (Cass Claeys) Coffman; a great-grandson, Carter Coffman; aunt and uncle, Maribelle and Howard Andrews; three furry companions, Gus, Sassy and Momma Cat; several cousins, nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to the Our Hospice of South Central Indiana; American Heart Association; or Brain Injury Support Group of Bartholomew County.   2. My heart breaks for you all. Cheryl was a huge part of my childhood. Scout Leader, my friends Mom, and then she became my sister’s Sister-in-Law. What a wonderful addition to our family. Grateful that I just got to spend time with her at a family birthday party recently. Always loved to hear the stories she would tell. She will be missed. Love to the family.

  5. I am so saddened to hear about Cheryls passing. I first knew Cheryl professionally, which grew into a friendship. I was honored to also meet Mike, as we had the USMC in common- his history and my son, Sam. They were wonderful people and I know they both will be greatly missed by the family.
