Nora Jeanette Stratton

Nora Jeanette Stratton, 88, of Columbus, passed away at 9:34 p.m. February 8, 2018, at her home. Nora was born April 22, 1929, in Bartholomew County, the daughter of Homer and Mildred Fuel Newland. She married Harold Stratton, who preceded her in death on February 18, 2013. Nora loved attending and was the oldest living member of Trinity Baptist Church, where she was known as the “Church Boss”. She could play any instrument with strings, and enjoyed playing bass guitar for her church. Nora enjoyed traveling and going on vacation. The funeral will be 10 a.m. Tuesday February 13, 2018, at the Jewell – Rittman Family Funeral Home with the Rev. Marvin Brown officiating. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, February 12, 2018, and one hour prior to the service Tuesday. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the donor’s choice of charities. Survivors include a sister, Linda Adams of Columbus; granddaughters, Shila Potter and Leann Geisler, both of Columbus; a great-grandson, Casey Johnson; great-granddaughters, Brittany Spears and Ashley Bryant; a niece, Kelly Boots; as well as a nephew, Jeffrey Harris. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Mike Potter; as well as a great-granddaughter, Chelsea Porter.
