Rick L. Penrose, 60, of Columbus, passed away at 5:45 a.m. Sunday, December 17, 2017, at his home. He was born January 9, 1957, to Harold E. and Pauline R. Elkins Penrose. Rick was a member of the Roofer Local #119 union. He lived for his grandkids and loved being a papaw. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, December 21, 2017, at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with Dave Easterly officiating. Calling will be from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Wednesday and one hour prior to the service on Thursday. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home to help with final expenses. Survivors include his companion of fifteen years, Toni Brown of Columbus; children, Todd Penrose of Columbus, Gregory (Amber) Penrose of Columbus, Kacey Penrose of Columbus, Travis Brown of Nashville, Shawn (Stephanie) Brown of Columbus and Matthew (Katy) Brown of Columbus; brothers, Darren (Teresa) Penrose of Virginia, Steven (Diana) Penrose of Medora; sister, Dinah (David) Easterly of Virginia; grandchildren, Christopher Acree, Kayla Burns, Nevaeh Penrose, Alivia Penrose, Zaleigh Penrose, Kloie Penrose, Kaleb Penrose, Ashton Bales, Ava Bales, Zandyr Penrose, XJ Penrose, Braxton Gentry, Adryia Burris, Tugboat Burris, Caidence Branum, Peyton Brown, Quincy Grider, Jayden Brown, Madelyn Brown, Mary Hiatt, James Brown, Miron Brown and Benson “Bear” Brown; a great-grandchild, Mylah Dittmer; best friend, Michael Burton; five nephews, three nieces and one great-niece; and his faithful four legged companion, Ozzy.
