Caleb A. Burriss, 38, of Elizabethtown, died at 1:51p.m. October 3, 2017, at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility after battling chronic liver disease for five years. Caleb was born August 30, 1979, in Columbus, the son of Gary E. and Martha Ammerman Burriss. Caleb was employed at Columbus Animal Control for 12 years. He had a great love for music and a passion for playing music. A memorial service will be at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, October 7, 2017, at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with the Pastor Tracy McIntyre officiating. Calling will be from 2:00 p.m. until service time Saturday. Inurnment will be at Bear Creek Baptist Cemetery. Survivors include his parents, Gary and Martha Burriss of Elizabethtown; sisters, Sara (William) Kubiszewski and Jana Burriss, both of Columbus; an aunt, Jan Burriss; nephew, Daily Burriss; along with many other aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his sister, Myriah R. Burriss; grandparents, William I. and Dorothy Burriss and Frederick and Rebecca Ammerman; and an uncle, Douglas Burriss.

Never knew what Caleb was going thru while working with him thru dispatching Animal Control at night. He was always courteous and caring and had a great sense of humor. So sorry for your loss

Caleb was a unique person with a great love of music, as well as the ability to create it. Jamie said when he sang and played guitar he reminded her of Nana Dottie. He was taken way too young. all our love and prayers to you, Gary and Marty, Sara and Jana.
