Mabel was born November 24, 1924, in Gaithersburg, Maryland, the daughter of Kirby and Audrey Getz Smith. She married James A. Richard, February 1, 1950. Mabel and her husband owned and operated Richard’s Standard Service and Eastside Auto Parts. She was an LPN at Columbus Regional Hospital for several years and before retirement, served as a nurse at Bartholomew County Children’s Home. Survivors include her daughter, Debra Richard of Columbus; four grandchildren, Cody Richard and Logan Richard, both of Columbus and Shannon Dooley and Sean Dooley, both of Florida; and a daughter- in- law, Donna K. Richard of Columbus. She was preceded in death by her husband and parents; sons, Patrick Dooley and Steven Richard; a daughter, Gloria Jean Richard; two sisters; and three brothers.
