MEMORIAL CONTRIBUTIONS: Our Hospice of South Central Indiana through the funeral homeTo view Roger's memorial video, please click hereRoger Lewis Turner, 87, of Columbus, passed away at 1:25 a.m. Wednesday, July 26, 2017, at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility. Roger was born January 3, 1930, in Bartholomew County, to the late Lewis E. and Nancy Byrd Turner and was a lifelong Columbus resident. He retired from Golden Foundry. He married Lorene Brown on June 2, 1956, and she survives. Roger served his country in the US Army during the Korean War in the 2nd Infantry Division and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Roger was an amateur radio operator and was a member of the ARRL (Amateur Radio Relay League). He also owned and was crew chief of a drag race car. He was a member of the East Columbus Christian church. Roger is survived by his wife; a son, Larry Wayne (Becky) Turner of Columbus; a daughter, Sondra Sue (Roger) Robbins; and a granddaughter, Kristen Renee (Tyler) Dunn. Roger was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, U.J. Turner, Terrel “Pete” Turner, Charles Donald Turner, Jack Turner and Jerry Turner; and 3 sisters, Dora Hadley, Nettie Turner and Jean Joslin. Funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, July 29, 2017, at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with the Rev. Mike Gillespie officiating. Following the service, he will be laid to rest in Garland Brook Cemetery with military honors provided by the Bartholomew County Veterans Honor Guard. Visitation will be from noon until 2:30 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana through the funeral home.

Roger was a good guy,I liked him.sorry for your loss.
I worked with Roger at the foundry. I didn’t know he passed until I ran into a mutual friend and they told me or I would of came. I am so sorry for the loss.
