SERVICES:FUNERAL: Will be at 1:00 p.m. Monday, July 31, 2017, at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with Pastor John Armstrong officiating.  VISITATION: Will be Sunday, July 30 from 1-5 p.m. and from 12:00 until service time Monday at the funeral home.  BURIAL: Will be at the Vernon Cemetery in North Vernon. To view Shirley's memorial video, please CLICK HEREShirley Kay Bergsieker, 65, of Columbus, died at 12:43 p.m. on July 25, 2017, at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana. Shirley was born July 3, 1952, in Seymour to Fred and Joyce Stearns.  She married Ed Bergsieker on July 2, 1988, at Zion Baptist Church in North Vernon. She graduated from Jennings County High School in 1970. She spent her 45-year career working for the Indiana Department of Transportation as an Office Manager in the construction department.  She greatly enjoyed her work and the INDOT staff was like family to her. She was a life-long member of Grace Lutheran Church.  Her passion was spending time with her family. She was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents.

  1. Know that God is with you family, look to the hills whence cometh your help and believe it comes from the Lord. Ed, Sarah, Rachel, and Kelly we are praying God’s strength and grace be sufficient in your faith. Shirley will always live in each soul she has touched.

  2. As a former co-worker and colleague it always made me happy to see Shirley whenever I stopped at the INDOT office. She will be missed. My thoughts and prayers go out to her family, and her extended INDOT family.

  3. Shirley was a wonderful co-worker and all around sweet person. She will be so missed by her INDOT family. May God’s grace and comfort surround her whole family during this sad time.

  4. Shirley was always upbeat and had a can do attitude at work. One of a kind lady that will be missed greatly.
