Kathy Sue Huffer, 60, of Columbus, died Friday, July 14, 2017, at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility. She was a 1975 graduate of Columbus East High School. Over her lifetime she had worked at Hills, 3D and Cosco. She was a kind and caring daughter, sister and aunt, and will be missed immensely. Kathy loved to do puzzles and loved the outdoors. Cooking and baking were her specialties, and she made the best homemade fudge. Kathy was an avid fan of Jeff Gordon, Bobby Knight, IU basketball and the Indianapolis Colts. Born January 30, 1957, in Columbus, Kathy was the daughter of Eugene L. Huffer and Joyce A. Bush Joy. She is survived by her father; sisters, Karen (James) Misner of Decatur County and Lou Ann Nyberg of Columbus; brothers, Greg and Jeff Huffer, both of Columbus; nieces, Jessica (Nick) Kohlman of Columbus and Megan Nyberg of Columbus; nephews, Benjamin Misner of Decatur County and Matthew Nyberg of Columbus; great-nephews, Cason and Cayle Misner, Caleb Dunbar and Ethan Reinbold; a great-niece, Kylie Dunbar; brother-in-law, Carl Nyberg of Columbus; and step-sisters, Kimberly Taylor of Greenwood, Pamela Haynes of North Carolina and Alysa (Michael) Jones of North Carolina. Kathy was preceded in death by her mother and step-mother, Carolyn. Kathy will be cremated and per her wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service. She requested that the family have a private service at a later date.
