She married Willie Parker June 3, 1950.She had been previously employed at Parker Plumbing, Hills Department Store (Ames), Big Lots and Sleep Inn and Suites. She loved being with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 22, 2017, at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with Pastor John Marquis officiating. Calling hours will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.Memorials may be made to the Andrew Paul Parker Memorial Scholarship (Bartholomew County Heritage Fund) or Our Hospice of South Central Indiana, through the funeral home.Survivors include her children, Allen (Nena) Parker, Lisa Kirk (Joe) and daughter-in-law, Phyllis Parker, all of Columbus; grandchildren, Misty and Laura Parker, Tracy Hoffman, Casey and Emily Kirk, all of Columbus, Krista (Brandon) Hickman of Noblesville, Jason (Liz) Winters and Sarah (Dustin) Dodson, all of Columbus, and Danielle (Brett) Wright of Indianapolis; great-grandchildren, A.J. Cruite, Karisma Parker, Katie, Haleigh and Jase Hoffman and Owen Kirk, all of Columbus, Elijah, Luke and Isabelle Hickman of Noblesville and Mason and Blaine Winters and Clara and Hunter Dodson, also of Columbus; a sister-in-law, Judy Matthews; several nieces and nephews; home health aide, Josh McKinsey; and her pretty “Baby.”She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Willie, in 1994; a son, Wayne Parker in 2006; grandson, Andrew Paul Parker in 2004; siblings, Lavern (James) Atnip, Mae (Raymond) Bowles and James Carlos Matthews; and brothers and sisters-in-law, Dave and Beverly Parker and Gene and Opal Parker.

Im so sorry to hear of your loss. She was a great lady always full of life she will be greatly missed. May God comfort and keep you during this time. So sorry to hear of her passing my thoughts and prayers go out to u all on behalf of myself and daughter’s Laura n Stephanie Harrison who also lost their grandpa this week as well our sympathies to you at this time… to dot may u fly high and rest easy

Allen and Lisa, I am so very sorry for your loss. I had no idea that your Mom had passed until now. I was looking online for someone else and saw this. My mouth dropped to the floor! I loved your Mom just as I do both of you and would have been there. Please take care.
Aunt Dot today was a very sad day but I am honored that I could be there to tell you goodbye. I love you so much and know that you are at peace among those that reached Heavens Gates before you. Please give special hugs and kisses to all but especially my Pop. I will treasure my memories of you for always Your niece, Teresa
