She married Edwin L. Benedict June 7, 1958, in Washington, D.C.She was employed at the Bartholomew County Hospital before retiring after 20 years of service. She was a member of Parkside Baptist Church where she played the piano for many years and enjoyed doing things with the people from her church. She enjoyed reading and spending time with her grandchildren. The funeral will be at 11a.m. Monday, March 6, 2017, at Parkside Baptist Church with Dr. William Bailey officiating. Calling hours will be from 2-5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or Our Hospice of South Central Indiana through the funeral home.Survivors include her sons, James E. Benedict of Columbus and Phillip R. Benedict of Carlisle, Indiana; daughter, Angie (Brian) Schultz of Columbus; a sister, Mary (Julian) Marett of Atlanta; and two grandchildren, Emily and Alyssa Schultz. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Edwin; and a sister, Irma Smith.
