Scheidt, 84, of Columbus, died at 6:10 a.m. March 1, 2017, at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility.Don was born November 13, 1932, in Columbus, the son of Ed and Emma Lowe Scheidt. He married Harriett L. Babb November 7, 1953, and she preceded him in death December 5, 2016.Don was a Christian. He was a member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, Clifty. He and Harriett were married for 63 years. He was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Don was a dairy farmer. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in Japan during the Korean Conflict. The funeral will be at 11a.m. Saturday, March 4, 2017, at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, Clifty with Pastor Doug Bauman officiating. Calling hours will be from 5-7 p.m. Friday at the church and one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery with military honors presented by the Bartholomew County Veterans Honor Guard. Friends and family are invited to a bereavement dinner at the church immediately following burial.Memorials may be made to the St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, Clifty, Making Mission Possible through the funeral home.Survivors include his children, Donita L. (Tony) Barringer, Lisa K. (Mark) Gilbert and Eric D. (Linda) Scheidt, all of Columbus; grandchildren, Joshua (Jenica) Barringer, Luke (Jamie) Barringer and Caleb (Samantha) Barringer; step-grandchildren, Brian Gilbert and Kyle (Laura) Gilbert; and great-grandchildren, Jordan Barringer, Jentry Barringer, Lyla Barringer, Jalynn Barringer, Cole Gilbert and Lake Gilbert. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Harriett Scheidt; a daughter, Marci L. Scheidt; and a brother, Norval Scheidt.
