Lutz, 96, of South Brooks Street, died at 4:30 a.m. January 7, 2017, at home. Chanie was born August 16, 1920, in Murdock, Illinois, the daughter of Orville and Martha Eickleberry Sprague. She married George J. Lutz August 7, 1937, and they celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary in 2002. George preceded her in death December 23, 2002. She attended Shiloh Baptist Church and enjoyed crocheting afghans for all of her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Chanie and her husband enjoyed square dancing and round dancing with their friends. With this same group of friends, they loved to go camping and travel across the United States. A celebration of life will be held at 11a.m. Thursday, January 12, 2017, at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with the Rev. Ansel Harden officiating. Calling hours will be from 9 a.m. until service time Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Bethel Baptist Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the donor's choice of charity through the funeral home. Survivors include her daughters, Patricia (Gene) Howe of Elizabethtown and Roberta Risk of Columbus; seven grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, George; and a grandchild, Ronald Howe August 8, 2011. Chanie was the youngest of eight children; all of her siblings have preceded her in death.
