John R. Owen,

John R. Owen Sr., 65, of Columbus, passed away at 4:40 a.m. Sunday, November 13, 2016, at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility. He was born September 4, 1951, in Greensburg, to the late Harvey Franklin Owen and Mary Catherine (Means) Owen. John served his country in the United States Marine Corp. and retired from Delta Faucet in Greensburg. After his retirement, he was employed as a substitute school bus driver and as a lab courier for the Columbus Regional Hospital. John participated in Civil War reenactment with the First Wisconsin Artillery. John married Jodi Schoentrup February 26, 1977, and she survives. John is also survived by his son, J.R. Owen Jr. and daughter-in-law Robin Owen of Columbus; a sister, Carol Jean (Larry) Fry of Greensburg; and four grandchildren, Katelyn Waggoner, Austin Waggoner, Andrew Owen and Carson Walters.
