Thomas Edward Cameron, 79, of Columbus, passed away at 10:35 a.m. Saturday, October 8, 2016, at Richard L. Roudebush V.A. Medical Center. Thomas was born on May 17, 1937, to Freeman and Lola Mae Alford Cameron. He married the love of his life and his world, Melva Joan (McClintic) Cameron on November 28, 1958. Thomas was a United States Army veteran and was retired from Cosco. He loved dogs, horses and going to auctions. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, October 12, 2016, at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with the Rev. Virgil Clotfelter officiating. Calling will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday. Burial will be at Flat Rock Baptist Cemetery with military honors provided by Bartholomew County Veterans Honor Guard. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association. Survivors include his wife, Melva Cameron; children, Carol Cameron-Hatton and Carl (Hillari) Cameron, both of Indianapolis, and Adam Cameron of Columbus; a brother, Marshall Lee (Mary) Cameron of Clarksburg, Indiana; sisters, Evelyn (Carl) DeVenzio and Lela Cameron, both of Greensburg, Indiana; seven grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. Thomas was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Tommy Lee Cameron; and a brother, Leonard Cameron.
