Christopher Keith Cvelbar

Christopher Keith Cvelbar, 45, of Greenwood, died Sunday, July 17, 2016, at at his home. Christopher was born June 27, 1971, in Jeffersonville, Indiana, the son of David A. and Ernestine Miles Cvelbar. Christopher was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, having served in Afghanistan as part of the special forces that were first into Tora Bora. He worked as circulation director for several newspapers. Christopher was a devoted father and son who loved spending time with his children. Survivors include his parents; sons, Conner T. Cvelbar and Harrison Yeagy, both of Greenwood; daughters, Carolyn J. Cvelbar and Christina K. Cvelbar, both of Greenwood; brother, Scott E. (Mary) Cvelbar of Valparaiso, Indiana; and several aunts and uncles. He was preceded in death by his uncles, James Miles and Terry Scott.

I met and socialized with Chris when we lived in Shelbyville, Indiana years ago Man, he was just a kid, and so was I. I am proud to say that I know him and that he will always be an American hero to me. God bless Chris and his family.
