Andrew Tyler Fisher
September 23, 1977 ~ May 30, 2016
Andrew Tyler Fisher, 38, of Columbus, went to be with Jesus Christ, his Lord and Savior, Monday, May 30, 2016, at Columbus Regional Hospital. In the final hours of his battle with pancreatic cancer, he sang along with his favorite christian musicians such as Casting Crowns and Matthew West. Born on Sept. 23, 1977, the son of Steve and Gretchen Fisher, Ty graduated in 1996 from Columbus North High School where he excelled in football, baseball and hockey, and was a member of Youth for Christ. As a Columbus Iceman, he was captain of his team and received the “Red Light Award” as leading scorer. He attended Vincennes University and Ivy Tech Community College. Ty completed navy basic training at Great Lakes Naval Base where he studied electronics. He completed his military obligation with the Indiana National Guard. CAD/CAM, mold design, computer technology, machining, carpentry and electrical work were just a few of Ty’s work skills. He was last employed by the great folks at Columbus Engineering as a welder and fabricator, and would still be there if his cancer had not forced him to leave. Ty’s hobbies and passions included photography, playing the guitar, antiquing, fishing, camping and mushroom hunting. Ty received his first communion at St. Bartholomew Catholic Church, was confirmed at First United Methodist Church, was baptized at Community Church of Shelbyville and was a member of Community Church of Columbus. In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes memorials to Community Church of Columbus Celebrate Recovery Ministry or to Bartholomew County Salvation Army. Survivors include his parents; brothers, Brett (Nicci) Fisher of Zionsville and Cole Fisher of Indianapolis; sons, Daniel and Elijah Fisher of Calhoun, Georgia; step-son, Nicolai Brumbach of Columbus; nephews, Cooper and Conner Fisher of Zionsville; along with many loving aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Harry and Dorothy Kentzel and George and Esther Fisher; and a cousin, Jesse King.

Steve and Gretchen, I was so sorry to hear about Ty. It has been a long time since eighth grade English class at Central. Ty was a hardworking student, and I certainly enjoyed having him in class. He has grown into a fine young man. I know that you miss him, but I am thrilled that he knew Jesus as his personal Savior. Now he is home. We shall see him again some day. May God bless both of you and give you peace and comfort that only He can give.
Gretchen and Steve, I was very sorry to hear of Ty’s death. His life seemed to be mending morally and spiritually just when it fell apart physically. I do rejoice that you know the One who pulls them all together not because we deserve it, but through his powerful love. It is our hope for Ty as it is our hope for ourselves. Sincerely, -Dan Reuter
