Virginia M. McDaniel, 89, of Seymour, died at 8:20 a.m. Wednesday, May 18, 2016, at her home. Virginia was born August 19, 1926, in Monroe County, Kentucky, the daughter of Radford and Ola Bledsoe Proffitt. She married James Samuel McDaniel June 18, 1955. Virginia was a longtime member of East Columbus United Methodist Church. She worked hard throughout all of her life and loved to read. Survivors include her husband, James; brothers, Morris (Velma) Proffitt of Shepherdsville, Kentucky, Reed (Judy) Proffitt of New Holland, Pennsylvania, Delmas (Elizabeth) Proffitt of Glasgow, Kentucky, Darryl (Marie) Proffitt of Scottsville, Kentucky, and Bob Proffitt of Brownsville, Kentucky; and a sister, Jane Goodin of Scottsville, Kentucky. She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Harold, Cecil and Doyle Proffitt.

I have great memories of Aunt Virginia and Uncle Jim visiting when I was little. When mom gave birth to my younger sister, Traci, Aunt Virginia came and babysat all six of us kids. What a brave woman! Prayers for peace and comfort to you Uncle Jim. Love you.
Jim, our heart is broken for you tonight. We are so sorry we can not be with you during this sad time , but Delmas is not able to make the trip there. Know that we are praying for you and take care of your self and call us when you can . We love you.
