A.D. was born Sept. 20, 1931, in Manchester, Kentucky, the son of Joseph and Sarah Ely Smallwood. He married Veda Mills Oct. 14, 1950. A.D. retired from Stadler Packing Company after 18 years of service and attended Calvary Church of the Nazarene. He was an avid hunter and fisherman who loved the outdoors. He was a Colts fan, loved dirt track racing and was a huge Tony Stewart fan Survivors include his wife, Veda; sons, Darrell (Roxanne) Smallwood of Russell Springs, Kentucky, Joe (Lori) Smallwood of Lawton, Oklahoma, and Rick Smallwood of Columbus; daughter, Debbie Smallwood­-Stanfield of Lawton, Oklahoma; brother, Larry (Rita) Smallwood of Hamilton, Ohio; sister, Myrtle Hollin of Columbus; 11 grandchildren; 23 great-­grandchildren; and four great­-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, David Smallwood; brothers, Herman Smallwood, I.V. Smallwood and O.B. Smallwood; and a sister, Mae Gray.

  4. Veda, Jason as you can imagine is very heartbroken. He was hoping to make it back to Indiana next year to see both of you. He always worshiped his grandpa and will miss him terribly. He sends his love and will call very soon. Jason

  5. Veda, Darrell, Joey, Debbie and Rick, so sorry about the loss of your husband/Dad. He was a good man and will be missed by many of people, especially the kids who he turned into hunters and fisherman. I know you left an impact of a lot of those kids lives for as the got older they loved the sport that you taught them. All the kids that I knew turned out to be good kids and still hunt and fish today. You kept these young kids off the streets, at the lake and in the woods and off the streets. You were definitely loved by everyone. I will keep your loving wife Veda, your kids, grandkids and great great grandkids in my thoughts and prayers. RIP A.D. for I know David was at the pearlies gates greeting you with open arms.

  7. AD was a great man and my Grandpa Kenneths best friend. He has been a part of our family all my life. We will miss him everyday and cherish every memory we have of him.
