Hatcher, M.D. of Columbus passed away on January 17, 2016, in Indianapolis, Indiana.   Charles was born in Logansport, Indiana on July 6, 1943 to Carlos and Lisette (Richter) Hatcher. He graduated from Logansport High School in 1961. After high school, he entered the U.S. Navy and became a Corpsman. At completion of his service, he entered Indiana University, and graduated in 1971.   He married Sandra Sue Jones (Sandy) in Logansport Indiana in August of 1967. He completed his Residency in Family Practice Medicine at Ball Memorial, Muncie in 1974 and went into private practice in Columbus.   Dr. Hatcher enjoyed serving the community, as a personal family physician to many, as a leader in his field, and with many volunteer and community organizations. He actively supported Volunteers in Medicine, Pregnancy Care Center, and many other community organizations. He was County Physician for many years and served as Medical Director at Hickory Creek and Silver Oaks Healthcare.   Charles was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Michael Hatcher of Florida. He is survived by his beloved wife, Sandy; his son, Jason (Gloria) Hatcher; and daughter, Christina (Rodney) Healy. He and Sandy have five grandchildren, Erin M. Healy of Bloomington, Charles Leo Healy of Washington, and Korbin Thomas Hatcher, Kylie Morgan Hatcher and Breanna Nicole Hatcher, all of Columbus. He is also survived by his brother, David (Carol) Hatcher of Valparaiso; sister-in-law, Julie Hatcher of The Villages, Florida; nephews, Michael Hatcher of Terre Haute and David (Debbie) Pugh of Tennessee; and nieces, Karen (David) Grove of Lafayette and Holly Cannon of Indianapolis.

  2. I am so sorry to hear the news of Dr. Hatchers passing. He was my doctor for many years, treated my parents and aunt, and he was kind enough to hire me as a babysitter for his children. He was such a kind and gentle soul. My thoughts and prayers are with the family.

  5. Dr Hatcher became our childrens doctor when we moved to Columbus 25 yrs ago. He was always very attentive and took great care of them. As we aged and needed a family Dr. ! he also became our Dr. We always got the best care. He was so friendly and easy to talk with and we were very happy that Dr. Hatcher was a man of faith in Jesus.   6. My deepest sympathy to your family. Just this past June, Dr. Hatcher gave me a book to read from his own library on what happens when a love one passes. I know where Dr. Hatcher is, in heaven. May God comfort you all. He was a great doctor to me.

  7. I miss Dr. Hatcher everyday, I can only imagine his familys grief. He was my doctor and my husbands for 20 yrs. He saved my life. I was dying and didnt leave me. He found out what was attacking my body. On the day he left the practice I had an appointment. I was heartbroken he had left. He was a good man and a great doctor. Dr. Hatcher I miss you! Love your patient Donna. God keep you , prayers for Sandy and your beloved grandchildren!
