Jones, 52, of Columbus, died Monday, Dec. 21, 2015, at his home. Kevin was born February 12, 1963, in Columbus, the son of Theodore A. and Betty L. Cheek Jones. Kevin enjoyed being a storm chaser for the National Weather Service. He was an avid mushroom hunter and loved playing his drums and panning for gold. He also loved his cat, Rascal. Survivors include his son, Tyler (Sarah) Jones of Columbus; daughter, Amanda (Eric Davis) Jones of Seymour; brother, Steven R. (Lori) Jones of Richmond; sisters, Kimberly S. (Dan) Hedrick and Anita (Craig) Carter, both of Columbus; and grandchildren, Johnathyn Lewis, Jordyn Jones, Aaliyah and Aniyah Jones. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Michael L. Jones.

Kevin…(Froggy), you and I will always share a special bond. God inherited one beautiful soul when he took you. Chase all of those awesome storms and tornadoes from the sky my friend. I know that you will be watching over your fellow storm chasers as well as your loved ones. I want to thank you for the nights you stayed up late to talk to me and praying together.
