Reed, 92, of Parkside Court, died at 1:50 p.m. Thursday, November 12, 2015, at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility. Helen was born April 21, 1923 in Columbus, the daughter of Melvin E. and Clara Mae Elliott Crippen. She married Rev. Bert J. Reed May 2, 1948. Helen was a member of East Columbus United Methodist Church. She and her husband, Bert, pastored many churches in Indiana including Marango, Ogilville, Valparaiso, Taylorsville, Clifford and Seymour. She also worked at Irwin Union Bank and in the admistrative office at Columbus North High School. Helen was a 50 year member of Eastern Star and loved the outdoors, especially gardening, and crocheting and knitting for her grandchildren. Survivors include her daughter, Cathy J. (David) Squires of Demorest, Georgia; grandchildren, Angela Hogan of Demorest, Georgia; Bryan Reed of Columbus, Matthew Reed (Sheri) Gable of Suwanee, Georgia, Lori (Billy) Reed Mills of Brownstown, and Katie Elizabeth Moore of Cornelia, Georgia; great grandchildren, Holly Hogan, Bryce Tanner, Jeneya Tanner, Cassidy Gable and Sophia Gable; and a daughter-in-law, Jane Reed of Columbus. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Bert J. Reed; her parents; a son, Ross M. Reed; brothers, Robert and Oscar Crippen; and a sister, Zola M. Miller.
