MEMORIALS: Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Columbus, 3300 Fairlawn Drive, Columbus, Indiana 47203. Roger S. Euler, 94, passed away on Monday, October 5, 2015, at his home in Columbus. Roger was a truly remarkable man. He was born to Stewart and Frieda Euler on their farm August 6, 1921. He graduated from Vernon High School in 1939 and was then on to Purdue University where he obtained his degree in Agriculture Education. Immediately following graduation Roger went to serve in WW II as a field artillery officer, which included suffering nine months as a POW. After the war Roger continued his education at Purdue gaining a master's degree in Ag Economics, and then his Ph.D. in the same field. From here Roger dedicated his life to the diplomatic corps of the United States, serving many years as agricultural attaché in Warsaw, Poland, Moscow, Soviet Union and then Brussels, Belgium. He was married to Jeanne Wecker from 1965 until her passing and then years later met Betty Simmons, whom he married in 1998. Roger was active in the Baptist church throughout his life, from the Baptist Student Foundation at Purdue University, continuing after his retirement in several service positions with the First Baptist Church in Columbus. Roger is survived by his wife, Betty Euler; sister, Irma Pocock; brother, Herbert Euler; stepson, Michael Simmons; and his grandson, James Simmons. He is preceded in death by his brothers, George Euler and Robert Euler.
