MEMORIAL CONTRIBUTIONS: Memorial contributions may be made to Asbury United Methodist Church Memorial Fund or Mission Columbus, Asbury United Methodist Church through the funeral home. Nancy A. Green, 78, of Flintwood Drive, died at 5:30 a.m. Thursday, August 27, 2015, at Columbus Regional Hospital. Nancy was born December 18, 1936, in Dayton, Ohio, the daughter of Fred H. and Frances B. MacFarlane Alfele. She married James O. "Jim" Green on June 16, 1962. Nancy was born and raised in Dayton, Ohio and graduated from Bowling Green State University. She did her graduate work at The Ohio State University and University of Hawaii. Nancy was an elementary school teacher for approximately 26 years and a member of Bartholomew Association of Retired Teachers. Nancy was a member of the Red Hat Society, Euchre Group and a former member of the Columbus East Band Boosters Pig Out group. She was also a member of the Asbury United Methodist Church where she had sang with the choir, the small group Krispy Kreme and lead the prayer shawl ministry. Nancy enjoyed reading murder mysteries, Bible studies, gardening and socializing with friends. She also loved spending time with her grandchildren and attending their activities. Survivors include her husband, Jim; daughter, Holly Kay (Bill) Gentry of Chalmers, Indiana; son, James Robert (Sharin) Green of Oxford, Ohio; and grandchildren, Rebecca Gentry, William D. "W.D." Gentry, Victoria Green and Alexander J. "A.J." Green. She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Fred A. Alfele and Paul W. Alfele.






Jim and family, please accept my condolences for the loss of Nancy. It was my privilege to meet her, and you, in Erie a few years ago. May she rest in peace.
To our loving aunt who filled our lives with joy and happiness. She will be truly missed, but the love she gave use will be with us forever.
