SERVICES: 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 21, 2015 at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home. OFFICIATING: Pastor Mona Safely VISITATION: 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday, July 20, 2015 and one hour prior to service time Tuesday. FINAL RESTING PLACE: Flat Rock Baptist Cemetery with military honors presented by Bartholomew County Veterans Honor Guard. Edwin Jewell Shoultz, 84, of East Mission Court, died at 5:55 p.m. Wednesday, July 15, 2015, at Silver Oaks Health Campus. Jewell was born October 30, 1930, in Glasgow, Kentucky, the son of Riley O. and Alta Mae Franklin Shoultz. He married Lee Ella Rhea May 2, 1952. A 1949 graduate of Clifford High School and a veteran of the U.S. Army, he retired from Cummins Engine Company after 35 years of service. Jewell attended Scipio United Methodist Church and was a member of the local Elks Club and Moose Lodge. He also served on the Ceraland Park Board of Directors and was instrumental in the development of the Clifford Alumni Park. Being an avid golfer, Jewell won championships at Par Three, Greenbelt City Course, Greensburg Country Club and Otter Creek Golf Course. He made a hole-in-one at the Charleston National Golf Course on April 2, 1997. Jewell also enjoyed softball, basketball, dancing and playing cards with friends. Survivors include Lee Shoultz; daughters, Vicki (Steve) Krause of Columbus, Sandra (John) Prowell of Hershey, Pennsylvania, and Christina Jewell Shoultz of Columbus; sisters, Jean Neville of Columbus, Juanita Warren of Indianapolis, and Maude Foster of Frankfort, Kentucky; grandchildren, Shelley Graham and Kolbe Stoner; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and nine brothers and sisters.
