Jean Shull, 83, of Columbus, died at 11:30 p.m. Wednesday, January 7, 2015, at Silver Oaks Health Campus. Jean was born August 24, 1931, in Decatur County, Indiana, the daughter of Grant and Edna Theobald Wilkinson. She married Charles J. Shull June 26, 1949. Jean loved playing the piano, which she did for church and several organizations that she belonged to. For her own enjoyment, she would play the piano for us at all hours of the day and night. In years past, she enjoyed camping with family and friends. A 1949 graduate of Sandcreek High School, she worked in human resources at the Arvin Industries Gladstone Plant for 46 years. After that she worked at Brewer Consulting and the Association of Family and Personal Counselors. She was a member of the Hope Moravian Church but attended Elizabethtown Methodist Church where her good friends Rita and Tilford (Hoover) would drive her each Sunday. Jean was a 54-year member of Hartsville Order of Eastern Star No. 550 where she was past district deputy and past grand organist of the state. She was also a member of Amaranth, Alice Court No. 30, Social Order of Beauceant and the Red Hat Society. Survivors include her son, Scott (Robin) Shull of Columbus; daughter, Jonita (David) London of Columbus; sister, Elaine (Eugene) Grote of Greensburg; grandchildren, Amanda Hutt and Jamie Richardson; great-grandchildren, Justy Hutt, Carter Eubanks, Blake Richardson and Chase Richardson; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles; and two brothers.

Jean’s soul now rests with GOD . Bless her. I had the good fortune of working with Jean , at Arvin Gladstone forty some years ago , in the early to mid-1970’s , and I thought her a good and wonderful person at that time and I still remember her with those same fond memories. I am truly sorry to her family for their loss.
You will be greatly missed Jean. I was blessed to know you. You will never be forgotten. I am so very sorry for your family’s loss. May God watch over them at this difficult time.
