FUNERAL: 1 p.m. Wednesday, December 10, 2014, at the First Church of the Nazarene in Columbus with the Rev. Brian Rogers officiating. VISITATION: 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, at the Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home. BURIAL: Garland Brook Cemetery. Etta Wesley, 89, of Columbus, peacefully passed from this life at 6:56 a.m., December 6, 2014, at her home surrounded by her loving family. Mrs. Wesley was born on October 26, 1925, in Somerset, KY, she was the daughter of Charles Oakley and Addie Mae (Hall) Godsey. She married Elwood Wesley on February 15, 1946, who preceded her in death on June 16, 2009. She is survived by her children, Donna Farris of Columbus, Norm (Donna) Wesley of Columbus, Tim (Debbie) Wesley of Knoxville, TN and Kim Vance of Columbus; grandchildren, Melissa Ashby, Bryan (Chasidy) Benson, Megan (Jeremy) Chandler, Jonathon Wesley, Sarah Wesley, Victoria Wesley and Brittany Wesley; great-grandchildren, Collin Ashby, Ayden and Emmerson Benson, Luke Chandler, Cayden Chandler and Olivia Walker; and a sister, Eva Marie Wesley of Gallatin, TN. Mrs. Wesley was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Elwood Wesley; three brothers; and three sisters. Etta was a wonderful homemaker who enjoyed cooking, crocheting and quilting. Her handiwork can be seen in the homes of countless people throughout the country. Visitors to her home were always welcomed and well fed. She was a member of First Church of the Nazarene of Columbus, IN, for nearly seventy years. Being a devout woman of faith, she served in various capacities through the years. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who leaves an immeasurable legacy of love and example. Though she will be deeply missed, she leaves behind many wonderful memories in all the lives she touched.
